Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Yep.

It's true.

Girls just wanna have fun.

Karen Corlett McGamon, a friend of mine since our days in Jr. High together, came to my Studio for the first time, yesterday. We had the best time, heart to heart, sharing on all that has taken place in our journey in this lifetime.

When you have a shared history with another, it doesn't matter how much time has pasted since you were last together...You just pick up where you left off, like old times. We hit the ground running, and never looked back.

Being a Realtor, who specializes in Coral Gables and the South Miami/Pinecrest Area, Karen
was keen to get a tour of what's going on in the MiMo/East Buena Vista/Design/Wynwood
Districts that comprise my neck of the woods.

We tooled up and down many of the streets in these various neighborhoods on our way to lunch @Wynwood Kitchen & Bar. Karen was a willing driver, while I played narrator of the tour. Karen was delighted and surprised that these neighborhoods exist here in Miami and how many little jewel, historic, coral rock homes there were along the way. Not
unlike Coral Gables.

Upon arriving @Wynwood our 1st stop was @Plant the Future, my friend Paloma Teppa's amazing shop. Then on to the restaurant where we chose to sit outside. The sun was shinning
and there was a lovely breeze. We were looking forward to visiting Peter Tunney's Studio/Gallery, behind Wynwood K&B, after lunch...
But alas, it was not to be.

We had just finished eating when out of no where the skies turned black and the wind started
really whipping up. Everything was blowing around and a sense of panic and forbearing was in
the air. We quickly gathered our belongings and ran inside, anxious to get our check and get to
the car before the torrential downpour and god knows what else, began. It was so startling and
dramatic.

Fortunately we made it into the car, only slightly soaked and Karen proceeded in dropping me
back @the Studio and then went on her way, slowly home.

I was grateful to be safe and sound in the Studio and thought, ah, what a perfect time to unwind.
I was not about to get in my car and attempt to navigate the traffic in such catastrophic weather, so I decided it would be a perfect time to take a nap on my new daybed.
Apparently, this was not to be, either, for as soon as I was comfortable and about to drift off
there was a knock at the door and my friends, Kerry and Gail were standing there, surprising
me with a visit.

By 8PM, the sun had set, the skies had calmed down, somewhat and I was on my way home.

Now as I sit here @the computer attempting to compose a post for today, I am reflecting on
the magic of friendship. I find the older I get, the more important my friendships with woman
are. We may come from different backgrounds, have unique paths we are following but in the
end, we come together in supporting one another. This is such a gift in life.

And so it goes...Another day behind me.
As this day begins, I am open to new opportunities and experiences. Giving thanks for all that is and all that will be.

I recognize too, that I am powerless over outcomes. We make plans and God laughs. That's an
old saying of sorts...and it's so true.

I know one thing for sure, today and everyday,
girls just wanna have fun.

Celebrate your friendships. Practice random kindness.
Be grateful for the blessings each day holds.
Keep them close to your heart today.

It's an inside job and we are all messengers...

Let your love light shine.

Peace and love.
