Thursday's Tidbits . April 14 . 2011

Welcoming in this new day @3:45 AM.
Sleep deprived, that's me.

Good Morning World.

Yesterday was amazing in more ways
than one.

For starters, I was faced with the challenge
of dealing with tech support, via AT+T
for hours, attempting to get back on line.

Ah, my worst nightmare. After an hour
of frustrating attempts, finally, miracle
of miracles, I was back on line.

However, I still could not access my
email account.

I was told that this was not AT+T's
problem...It was an Apple issue.
AT+T informed me that they did
have tech support for these issues
as well and that they would connect
me with a specialist.

45 minutes later, ready to jump
out of my skin, I found out that this
was true, if I was willing to sign up
for a 1yr tech agreement, costing $'s.

I was so angry. I hung up.

Meanwhile, I then had to go into overdrive
to get showered and dressed and down to
Wynwood on time, for my scheduled appt.
with Kerry McLaney.

Stopping for gas, a women pulls in front
of the pump I was waiting for and I thought
I would lose my mind.

It was then, that I took a momentary time out.
Coaching myself, to just breathe, to let it go.
Recognizing that I am powerless and that this
too shall pass.

Finally I arrived at my destination just a few
minutes late, with my computer in hand.
Meeting up with Kerry, is always fun and mind
expanding. Her unique talents in all things
always impresses me and miracle of miracles
with in minutes, she had my email set right
and my computer hooked up to a "live steam
site".

I'm going to attempt to broadcast, via my
laptop, a live stream of my next Musing with Myra
Event, this coming Wednesday, April 20th @
Wynwood Kitchen & Bar.

How priceless was this? There is not dollar
amount that would cover the gratefulness I
felt in my heart and the calmness that came
over me.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, KMcL.

What would I have done, without you?

By 6PM we were on our way South to Vizcaya
for a 6:30 PM Event.

This is where the true amazement kicked in.

OMG. Just entering this magnificent property
at that time of day, was spectacular.

What was to come, totally blew me away.

Naomi Fisher, Miami's own, gifted Artist was
presenting a performance piece, reenacting an
Isadora Duncan's performance from 1994.

I was delighted to see many of the dancers,
performers and crew, in enchanting costumes
with smiles on their faces and all looking so
theatrical, prior to the performance. This was
just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what was
to come.

With the lead performer facing
Biscayne Bay, her back to the audience.
Total silence, waiting for what would happen
next. After several minutes a small boat being
paddled by 3 gorgeous creatures emerges, docks
and gracefully, one by one, they step onto the
steps and thus the performance began.

There were 3 different venues on the property
where we were directed as the performance
progressed.

The costumes were ethereal and each dancer,
performer so powerful in their movements and
presentation.

Took my breath away, truly.

I'm still kind of tingly thinking about this
magical evening.

No camera's were allowed during the performance.

I'm sure some images will emerge, non the less...

There is still more to come from Naomi Fisher
in completing this project, I am told.

Can't wait to see the next layer/installment of
this magnificent piece of work.

Bravo.

Looking forward to an easy day and my
scheduled lunch with long time friend
Melanie Cohen from SocialMiami.com.

Tune in tomorrow for that report.

Thank you for taking the time to check in
on my blog.

Sending love and peace out to The Universe
and each and everyone of you.

Pass it forward, People : )

Can't believe my good fortune : )

Good Morning Friendly Planet.
What's up with Wednesday?

Happy to welcome all the possibilities
awaiting me, this new day.

First things first.
This morning I plan to go back
to the Nissan Car Dealership
and sign on the dotted line,
for a new vehicle.

Having taken the car for servicing
yesterday and realizing that it is
4 yrs. old and out of warranty,
I looked @what options I had.

Gathering all the information, I was
pleased that I was able to walk out
of the showroom.

I have had time to review the choices
and feel good about my decision to
invest in a new car.

Thinking too, how much things have
changed in my life.
What a lucky girl I am.

This transaction makes good sense.
They offered me a good trade in
value on my old car.
The new car is a more gas efficient,
for starters and the financing is
0%, with a small monthly payment
that I can handle.

Once this is accomplished the plan
includes heading South to my
Studio to do some much needed
Art Therapy.

Plan on meeting up with my
buddy, Kerry McLaney, late in
the afternoon, to go over the
format of the upcoming
MUSING with MYRA, event
for a week from today,
April 20th,
6-9PM
Wynwood Kitchen & Bar
2550 NW 2nd Ave.
Small bites are provided.
Happy Hour Specials.
All are welcome.

Then on to Vizcaya for a 6:30PM
performance with Naomi Fisher and a group
of actors.
Coinciding with the final hour of
daylight, they will reinterpret a performance
by The Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble,
previously performed there in 1994.
Sure to be a glorious celebration.

The weekend is fast approaching and I'm
anticipating a visit from Prince Charming.
Oh, Happy Day : )

Thrilled to report that my Man, the NYC
Street Artist, NOBODY has been appointed
the Ambassador for Young Global Citizens.
They will be part of an international movement
to paint a platform, so to speak, for future world
citizens, from thought to action.

For those of you who stay in touch via Facebook,
you are well aware of what an inspiration TNMK
is in my life.

Art is My Weapon, the bandana that I wear in my
FB Profile photo is his creation and was a gift to
me the first time we met, last year @The Bakehouse,
Lucky You Annual Fundraiser.

Bravo to NOBODY, for making a difference in so
many lives...Testimony to, to the power of passing
it forward, People : )

If you're in the Dade County area, please mark your
calendars for
April 23rd
7PM
Ladder Gallery
6900 Biscayne Blvd.
Historic MiMo District

Witness a very special Literary Event,
featuring the dynamic
SUMMER HILL SEVEN from NYC.

I'm excited about what this Charming
Man is bringing to the table, here in
the Miami area.

Check out what The NewTimes has
to say about him

So there you have it folks.
My thoughts @ the moment.

Remember as you go forward today
that we are all,
each one of us, messengers.

Monkey See
Monkey Do.

Practice Random Kindness.

Pass it Forward.

Peace and love to all : )

Terrific, Tuesday? That Remains To Be Seen.

Ugg...just not myself this morning.
Angst and out of sorts...
A real crab.

What's up with this? I'm asking myself.
Not sure, but felt somehow, that if I started
writing about it, I would benefit and clear
out the cobwebs.

So here goes...

For starters, I'm due for a cleaning @the
dentist this morning and then on to have
my car serviced.

Oh, how I hate waiting for the car to be
serviced. No matter what I bring to read
or distract me, the time always seem to
just drag on and on.

I'm thinking now, what a spoiled brat I am,
complaining about a trivial thing,

I mean really, shouldn't I be grateful that
I have a car and can afford to have it serviced?

The answer is yes. Believe me I am.
It's just the day to day details of keeping one's
life on tract, that always seem to get me down.

The fact that I forgot to get married or have
children, is a non issue with me...But at times
like this, I am reminded how easy I have it, in
terms of responsibility.

This is why doing service is so important.
It takes the focus off you and keeps one busy
doing for others and giving back to the community.

I like to think all my social forays are kind of like
a service...Checking in with my posse, making sure
everybody is doing OK. Connecting people, advocating
the Arts, this is what gives me pleasure in life.

I'm fascinated with the power of Facebook and
the ability to have a voice. I love promoting
Artists, Worldwide, who are working it every day,
to make it happen. Keeping their dreams alive.

The thing about The Arts and Humanities in general
is what makes this journey bearable.
It creates the dialogue and brings so many possibilites
to the table. Creativity breeds, creativity.
Nurturing imagination is a wonderful thing.

With all the chaos and turmoil we are bombarded with
on a daily basis...the information overload...people
isolated, on their computers...YUK!
Thank you Universe for The Arts.

Thank you Universe and blogspot.com for allowing
me to vent and get me back on track.

Suck it up Princess, that's what I tell myself.

So there's the morning blah.blah.blah.

Feeling somewhat better already...knowing in
my heart that once I'm dressed and out of the
house, windows will open.

What surprises will present themselves today?

Check in for the next post to find out.

Wishing all a most productive, peaceful day.

Pass it forward : )

Monday.Maintaining, as it were...

Good Morning World.

How is it that so many days have passed, since I last posted on this blog?

Reflecting on the past several days, it's all kind of a blur.

When does too much of a good thing, get old?

This is what I'm questioning myself, here, this AM.

I mean how much can one partake of and still
maintain a sense of balance?

The learning curve continues, in this vain, for me.

Thursday night was the beginning of a long and for me,
exhausting weekend, with the preview openings of several
Galleries in the Wynwood/Design District.

Starting with The Dorsch Gallery and continuing on
with my trusty buddy in Art, non other that Miami's
Independent Thinkers, Kerry McLaney.

We managed to wet our visual appetites for all that
was in store on Friday and then Saturdays Artwalk.

Amazing really when you think about it.
So much going on and realizing that it's April already,
the 4th month of the year.
Time flies, if you're having fun or not.

Friday night was dedicated to 2nd Friday @The Bakehouse
Art Complex in Wynwood...but 1st I stopped by Cafeina to
say hello to Mike Margulies and catch a glimpse of his new show,
officially opening Saturday night.

BAC was rocking it by the time we arrived. Art in the Yard, a
new dynamic produced by the Artists who have Studio Space
outside, behind the main building, has made all the difference in
the vibe and the turn out for this monthly event.

A multi dimensional, sensory experience, for real.
Lighting, music, video installations and plenty to peruse
via the open Studios of all of these artists, creates an
atmosphere conducive to an Art Project in progress.

Saturday, late afternoon I cruised down to The Design District
for a collaboration called Fun Fair, with Launch Market and
The Stage on NE 38/39th Streets @1st Ave.
With the sun shining, it was a beautiful, So Fla. day.

By 5:30 I was parked further South in Wynwood and met
up with my friends, BAC Artists Louise Markus and Grant Genoa,
who initiated the Art in the Yard concept @BAC
Joey's was the perfect spot for a bite before the endurance test of
the evening began.

By 6:30 we had hooked up with the LOVE Child, Artist,
Evo Love of Stash Gallery and her friend Susan,
for a group effort in collaborative Art Appreciation, as it were.
LOL.

OMG. Too much. The heat was suddenly getting to me and I'm
thinking, I'm not going to last...

That's where my buddies kicked in. They encouraged me to sit
down and relax a few minutes, each time I started to complain
that I was having a literal melt down. Without them in tow, I
certainly would have bolted and not lasted as long as I did : )

We managed to make it to all the venues that I wanted to cover,
more or less, in Wynwood. I did not have it in me however, to
continue on to The Design District via the new Shuttle Bus service
which inaugurated Saturday night, to see several shows including the
one at The Moore Building where my friend Artist, Randy Burman
was showing : (

So in posing the question, when does, too much of a good thing,
start getting old?

I'd say right about now.

By the time I got home Saturday night, all I was thinking was
how next month I won't be doing the Artwalk again.
The heat and humidity really is a factor in my decision making,
I think.

While I adore being out and about on a regular basis, partaking
in so much that is afforded us, in the Art World, here,
I must remember to better pace myself.

Yesterday was spent quietly @home.
At 4Pm I made myself get dressed
and show up for the last of my
weekend commitments.

This is where the magic happened for me.

Sinhue Vega whose Ladder Gallery is downstairs from
my Studio @Uva . 6900 Biscayne Blvd. was launching
the 1st in a series of Literary Events with the magnificent
Ricardo Pau-Llosa, published poet and author extraordinaire.

Ricardo is among other things, a Bon Vivant, Renaissance type of guy
and a master wordsmith. An enchanting evening ensued as he
delivered many of his poems to an adoring audience. A true delight
in every aspect. Enlightening, informative, entertaining and more.
I came home feeling so elevated in mind, spirit and soul.

Hoping that whoever is reading this, will be checking out my Facebook
Wall for posts of future Collaborations, via Sinuhe and Ricardo,
specifically a group of Artist that Ricardo mentors, supports and
curates, called "The Guild", will be happening
on a regular basis, going forward. More literary evening to come, as well.

If your find yourselves in the area of 69th St. and Biscayne Blvd.,
check out Ladder Gallery and Artist, Lou Gold's Show that just
opened The Guild Series, last week. I love her exquisite and haunting images
with water a recurring theme.

Stay tuned.

As I start this week, I acknowledge all the blessings in my life.
I am grateful and don't take any of my wonderful life, for granted either.

Wishing you all a productive, happy week with love and respect.
Pass it forward.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Yep.

It's true.

Girls just wanna have fun.

Karen Corlett McGamon, a friend of mine since our days in Jr. High together, came to my Studio for the first time, yesterday. We had the best time, heart to heart, sharing on all that has taken place in our journey in this lifetime.

When you have a shared history with another, it doesn't matter how much time has pasted since you were last together...You just pick up where you left off, like old times. We hit the ground running, and never looked back.

Being a Realtor, who specializes in Coral Gables and the South Miami/Pinecrest Area, Karen
was keen to get a tour of what's going on in the MiMo/East Buena Vista/Design/Wynwood
Districts that comprise my neck of the woods.

We tooled up and down many of the streets in these various neighborhoods on our way to lunch @Wynwood Kitchen & Bar. Karen was a willing driver, while I played narrator of the tour. Karen was delighted and surprised that these neighborhoods exist here in Miami and how many little jewel, historic, coral rock homes there were along the way. Not
unlike Coral Gables.

Upon arriving @Wynwood our 1st stop was @Plant the Future, my friend Paloma Teppa's amazing shop. Then on to the restaurant where we chose to sit outside. The sun was shinning
and there was a lovely breeze. We were looking forward to visiting Peter Tunney's Studio/Gallery, behind Wynwood K&B, after lunch...
But alas, it was not to be.

We had just finished eating when out of no where the skies turned black and the wind started
really whipping up. Everything was blowing around and a sense of panic and forbearing was in
the air. We quickly gathered our belongings and ran inside, anxious to get our check and get to
the car before the torrential downpour and god knows what else, began. It was so startling and
dramatic.

Fortunately we made it into the car, only slightly soaked and Karen proceeded in dropping me
back @the Studio and then went on her way, slowly home.

I was grateful to be safe and sound in the Studio and thought, ah, what a perfect time to unwind.
I was not about to get in my car and attempt to navigate the traffic in such catastrophic weather, so I decided it would be a perfect time to take a nap on my new daybed.
Apparently, this was not to be, either, for as soon as I was comfortable and about to drift off
there was a knock at the door and my friends, Kerry and Gail were standing there, surprising
me with a visit.

By 8PM, the sun had set, the skies had calmed down, somewhat and I was on my way home.

Now as I sit here @the computer attempting to compose a post for today, I am reflecting on
the magic of friendship. I find the older I get, the more important my friendships with woman
are. We may come from different backgrounds, have unique paths we are following but in the
end, we come together in supporting one another. This is such a gift in life.

And so it goes...Another day behind me.
As this day begins, I am open to new opportunities and experiences. Giving thanks for all that is and all that will be.

I recognize too, that I am powerless over outcomes. We make plans and God laughs. That's an
old saying of sorts...and it's so true.

I know one thing for sure, today and everyday,
girls just wanna have fun.

Celebrate your friendships. Practice random kindness.
Be grateful for the blessings each day holds.
Keep them close to your heart today.

It's an inside job and we are all messengers...

Let your love light shine.

Peace and love.

April Begins...

Friday evening, April 1st, I bypassed The Bass Museum's opening and outdoor concert in lieu of an easier route, via Coral Gables and the lovely, world class Books & Books for an Author Reading with James Grippando, of his 18th book, another outstanding thriller.

Coral Gables is my hometown and stands alone as an example of how beautiful a neighborhood can be. Highly civilized is how I would best describe this gem of an area. Books & Books is housed in a historic building with a courtyard and on Friday night, live music.

I was delighted upon walking in, to see my friend, Darby Collins who works there, dining
with her friends. She introduced me to the amazing and talented Artist, Freda Coffing Tschumy.
Freda has the distinction of having done the outstanding Sculpture of Marjory Stoneman Douglas that graces Fairchild Garden.
Check out her website
http://tschumy.com/artist

Unfortunately I had arrived later than anticipated and missed the poetry event that was also
taking place Friday evening.

James Grippando did not disappoint. The guy is brilliant and has a loyal following as was
evidenced by the large turnout.

Saturday was spent doing my usual errands during the first half of the day.
By 4:30 PM I was @my friend Michael Enn's sisters house for a family gathering celebrating
their son's confirmation.
By 7PM, I had arrived @my Studio where I was met by old friends, Tracy and Mark who
were on a mission delivering gorgeous tomatoes and produce they had picked that day.
What a welcomed surprise.

Downstairs was an opening show of new work by Artist, Lu Gold in Sinuhe Vega's LADDER Gallery. This is the first in a series of "Guild" Artists and was well attended.

Pushing myself, I then continued down South, to say farewell to friends of some 40 years +,
who have sold their home here and are moving to Atlanta.

Sunday 9AM is my standing appointment with the magnificent holistic massage therapist,
Veronique. This is my favorite part of each week. I love this ritual and the benefits I am
receiving, justify this extravagant expense.

Stopped @The Yellow/Green Market here in Hollywood, hoping to find a wonderful, low maintenance plant called "Bad Hair". I was disappointed to see that so many vendors have
left this venue. It was truly slim pickings, but then miracle of miracles, there was one of these
rare little beauties.

Now I was off to the Studio to place it in a glass container, filled with water, which is all it takes
to maintain this unusual little plant.

By 4PM, I was home, safe and sound.
Grateful to put an end, to another wonderful weekend.

A luxurious, hot bubble bath was in order and then sweet slumber, early to bed...

Hello Monday morning. What does the week ahead hold?
Looking forward to all the possibilities.

As I start this day, I remember to thank the Universe for all it's blessings.
Grateful to participate each day in the miracle that is life.

Wishing you all the same.

Hoping you'll stay tuned.

Peace and love to all.

A Wonderful Life

It's a wonderful life that I'm living.
No kidding.
Last night @ Bal Harbour's Art Night
for instance, my wonderful life was enhanced
by showing up and attending this rather new
Monthly Event happening @Bal Harbour Shoppe's.

The evening's Art Focus was on Photography
with preview Installations by Iran Issa-Khan,
Peggy Levison Nolan, Bruce Weber and
several others.

The setting could not have been more beautiful.
Different stores were hosting a local Art Institution,
with part of the evening's sales benefiting each
organization.

I was swept away with the first space we entered,
a new retail concept called 100% Capri.
The merchandise in this store along with
the gorgeous staff all dressed in various
looks in white linen, was astounding.

It was as though they were staging a performance
art piece and everyone was a player.

We continued through the Mall stopping @Saks
to say hello to Iran Issa-Kahn, then on to Neiman's to catch
the "Conversation" taking place with Constance Collins,
Peggy Levison Nolan and Natasha Durwin, benefiting
The Lotus House.

Books and Books was hosting Bruce Weber's Curiosity and
Photography.

The most entertaining part of the evening in my opinion
were all the beautiful people, styled out to the max and
feasting on all the deluxe merchandise so artfully presented
in each store.

By 8:30 we were off for dinner in The Design Distrcit
@Michael's Genuine Food.

Artist Michael Enns was my partner in Art for the evening.
We had a glorious time talking to everyone and enjoying
all the creativity that was surrounding us.

This morning as I sit here @my computer composing this
post I am reminded that all things are possible.

This thought is what sustains me each day as I make my
way out of the house and into the big wide world that awaits
each one of us.

I'm telling you true folks, suit up and show up.
It's that simple.
Windows open and opportunities are revealed.
You never know if you'll hit a home run unless you
are willing to get up to bat.

I am ever mindful of how lucky I am at this time
in my life.
I pray each day for the willingness to let go,
to forgive and to pass it forward, with dignity,
grace and restraint.
Take nothing for granted friends.
Enjoy the gifts the Universe manifests on
a daily basis.
Create the life you wish to live.

If I can, so can you.

Sending love to all.
